Battery Questions

How and where do you dispose of batteries when damaged or worn out?

This is the 500 pound gorilla in the room  among the "Green Energy" people. They tend to shy away from any question in this regard, simply because there is no definite answer that is cost effective, and none that do not require major government subsides. Each manufacturer has different chemistry and materials in their products that  requires a specific process to allow the recovered materials viable for reuse. one of the key aspects in all Lithium batteries is the purity of the materials, often above 99.5%, to safely use in recycled products

PV Panel Questions

How and where do you dispose of solar panels when damaged or worn out?

Good Question.  A new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Energy Agency's Photovoltaic Power Systems Program projects the market for recycling solar photovoltaic (PV) panels could be worth $15 billion by 2050.

So, this is an emerging industry that really has no answer when it comes to the final costs of recycling these panels, or the cost 30 to 40 years from now, but judging from the growth as an industry, it looks like it will not be cheap.

Land Use Questions

Will the land used as solar become taxed as industrial rather than as presently agricultural resulting in a  huge increase for the land owner?

There are many aspects to the Transferring Agricultural Land to Solar Panel Energy Production.  The article below covers many of these points that need to be considered.

Article

I New York state, one of the Key issues is the Agricultural  District Exemption that reduces the assessed  value used to compute local land taxes. this is an area best answered by lawyers since the justification for the exemption only applies on agricultural use of the land, and while it is called a solar farm, it really does not naturally grow out of the land

Legal Questions

How can you change the contents of the original contract?

Short answer, Almost anything can be changed given enough time and money.

The reality is that any contract of this magnitude requires the deep investigation of all aspects BEFORE the contract is signed. It is important to understand all aspects of the contract and that is why it is  HIGHLY recommended that the land owner consult a legal firm with a vast knowledge base to review the contract before it is signed, and can explain it in detail.
